Clarification on Color Guard Uniform for Squadrons
All,
As approved by Col Yglesias the following will be the uniform standard for all Squadron Color Guard Teams within the wing. There will be no deviation unless specifically approved in writing by the Wing Commander across the board.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There seems to be some confusion on what is the authorized color guard uniform for squadron color guard members; while there is no specific regulation for color guard uniforms the following will be observed.
· Wing Squadrons will follow the same guidelines as those in the National cadet competition which includes the following items.
a. Flight cap or Service cap
b. White shoulder chord
c. White gloves
d. White web belt w/aluminum buckle
e. White Flag Slings
f. Two Rifles (simulated)
g. Class A or Class B uniform may be worn (uniformity always)
h. Ascots are not authorized at this time.
i. Grooming standards “MUST” be maintained.
· Squadrons must not deviate from this list by adding different color belts, chord color, etc.
· All members of the team will be uniformed in appearance per NCC guidelines. Example; either they all wear gloves or not. Either they all wear ties with short sleeves or they all don’t. Remember uniformity is the key at all times.
· No deviation of color guard uniforms are authorized at this time unless it is changed by the Wing Commander only.
· In pictures, I have seen; one of the major issues to watch for are proper placement of the Flight cap and the proper wear of the shoulder chord. I highly stress squadrons educate the cadets on the proper wear of the uniform items.
· Please note that at present time there is no “Wing Honor Guard Team” this is strictly related to Squadron Color Guard teams.
